Kansas LLC Filing Fees in 2026: Formation, Biennial Report and Agent
Kansas rewrote its fee schedule effective February 27, 2026, in the state's first comprehensive fee update since 2008. The changes were published in the Kansas Register (Volume 45, Issue 7) and they lowered the headline numbers: forming an LLC now runs $85 online, and the recurring report is a biennial filing rather than an annual one. Below is every fee a Kansas LLC actually encounters, verified against the Secretary of State's current forms.
Every State Fee at a Glance
| Filing | Online | Paper | How often |
|---|---|---|---|
| Articles of Organization (Form DL) | $85 | $90 | Once, at formation |
| Biennial Information Report | $90 | $110 | Every two years |
| Change of registered agent (Form ROA) | $30 | $35 | As needed |
| Foreign LLC registration (Form FA) | $115 | $115 | Once, for out-of-state LLCs |
| Late report penalty | $10 | $10 | Only if you miss the deadline |
How the Formation Fee Is Built
The $85 online figure is not arbitrary. It is a $75 base fee set by regulation under the statutory cap, plus a $10 information and services fee. Paper filers add a $5 technology fee, which is why mailing Form DL totals $90. Before the February 2026 reduction the same filing was $160 online and $165 by mail, so the state nearly halved the price of entry.
The Biennial Information Report
Ready to get started?
Get StartedKansas dropped its annual report in 2024 and now requires an Information Report every other year, due by April 15 of years that match your formation year's parity (even-year formations file in even years, odd in odd). The report is $90 filed online or $110 on paper. Full due-date and penalty details live on our annual requirements page.
Registered Agent: the Recurring Line Item
Every Kansas LLC must keep a registered agent, called a resident agent in the Kansas statutes, on file at all times. If you hire us, the annual price is $99, and the first year is already included when we form your LLC. Details are on the registered agent page. If you later switch agents, the state charges $30 online or $35 by paper for the Form ROA filing.
Our Service Fees
| Service | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| LLC formation | $199 | Preparing and filing Form DL, plus your first year of registered agent service |
| Registered agent renewal | $99/year | Years two onward |
| Foreign qualification | $199 + state fees | Registering an out-of-state LLC in Kansas; the Kansas state fee is $115 (Form FA) |
State fees are always paid to Kansas on top of the service price. We do not mark them up.
What Year One and the Years After Look Like
Ready to get started?
Get StartedForming through us with online filing: $199 service + $85 state fee = $284 in year one, registered agent included. In year two you pay the $99 agent renewal. In report years, add the $90 online Information Report. An LLC formed in 2026, for example, owes its first report by April 15, 2028, so its third calendar year runs $99 + $90 = $189 in total fees.
How We Compare
Plenty of formation companies advertise a low headline number and then layer on compliance bundles, rush charges, and add-ons you never asked for. Our price list above is the whole list. The state's fees are public, ours are flat, and nothing recurs except the $99 agent renewal you can see coming.
